چکیده

Introduction Non-contrast angiography emerges as an alternative method from contrast MRA due to the association of gadolinium based-agent with nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NFS). A non-contrast MRA technique using gated 3D Turbo Spin Echo has been reported for various clinical applications [1][2]. Recently, a novel technique using triggered non-selective refocused 3D SPACE or called NATIVE SPACE (NATIVE = Non-contrast Angiography of the Arteries and Veins, SPACE = Sampling Perfection with Application Optimized Contrast by using different flip angle Evolution) was shown to improve spatial resolution and speed [3]. In this technique, triggered phase contrast flow measurements were performed to determine the peak and the minimal flow within the cardiac cycle. Images were subtracted from the SPACE acquisition during the period of high and slow flow. SPACE with its variable flip angle technique further helps achieve lower SAR and short TR which results in short total acquisition time. In this abstract, we propose to use magnetization transfer pulse and fat saturation pulses to help suppress the background tissue and fat signal to further improve the images of the vessels.

Comparison of Fat Suppression Methods for Functional and Diffusion Studies Using SE EPI at 7T

Introduction: MR imaging at ultra-high field strengths has given encouraging results for high resolution functional and diffusion-weighted brain image acquisition. For both applications, single-shot echo-planar imaging (EPI) is often used, because it acquires entire slices in a fraction of a second and thus avoids distributed artifacts associated with head motion. However, EPI acquisitions are ...

Magnetization transfer contrast imaging of hepatic neoplasms.

A method of performing magnetization transfer contrast (MTC) using a pulse sequence based on a series of on-resonance binomial pulses preceding a conventional spin-echo sequence has been recently described. We investigated this technique in the evaluation of circumscribed hepatic neoplasms on a 0.5 T imager. Conventional spin-echo imaging was performed in 18 patients with hepatic neoplasms, 15 ...

Intracranial stenoocclusive disease: MR angiography with magnetization transfer and variable flip angle.

PURPOSE To assess time-of-flight MR angiography that uses magnetization transfer contrast (MTC) pulses, tilted optimized nonsaturating excitation (TONE), and a 256 x 512 image matrix for the detection of small intracranial arteries and for the detection and quantification of intracranial arterial stenoocclusive disease. METHODS To assess anatomic sensitivity, six interpreters, in a blinded fa...

Fast Fat Suppression Technique for Adaptive 3D Radial MRI Based on Multidimensional Golden Means

INTRODUCTION Adaptive sampling of k-space allows the reconstruction of images with various spatial and temporal resolutions from the same data set and is therefore suitable for dynamic MRI [1,2]. Golden-angle radial k-space sampling achieves this flexibility in-plane with relatively uniform angular sampling distribution for any time interval using samples incremented by the golden angle, φ = (√...

Off-resonance binomial composite pulses in 2D and 3D fat/water imaging at 0.5 T.

A new method of acquiring two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) fat/water decomposed images on a 0.5 T magnetic resonance (MR) imaging system is described. The method uses a gradient-recalled echo (GRE) sequence incorporating a composite 121 pulse, originally used for magnetization transfer contrast (MTC) experiments, for frequency-selective pre-saturation. By applying the 121 pulse o...
